Family Safari - 10 Days

Day 1 Arrival

Meet and greet at the airport by your driver guide. Dinner and overnight near Arusha.

  

Day 2 Visit of a Coffee Farm

Morning visit to the Kahawa Fair Trade coffee farm. Kahawa means coffee in Swahili. The coffee of the Kahawa Fair Trade Initiative is grown on the slopes of Mt. Meru, the second highest mountain in Tanzania, at 1,600 meters.

The mountain is a dormant volcano with very fertile soil and well suited for growing coffee. The initiative is led by a Norwegian-Tanzanian couple who grows and processes Arabica coffee beans together with a total of 28 local  families. This is how real fair trade and organic coffee is created. After an additional visit to the village, a local lunch awaits you.

The afternoon for leisure at Your Lodge. Relax by the pool or take a stroll in the adjacent rainforest. Upon request, a guide can be provided by the lodge free of charge. Dinner and overnight again near Arusha..

  

Day 3 Arusha National Park

Go on a full day safari in Arusha National Park. Picnic under an acacia tree Dinner and overnight again near Arusha.

Located between Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro the park has magically beautiful landscapes and a wide range of wild animals - including many giraffes, buffalo and the striking black and white colobus monkeys that reside here - the park's mascots.

  

Day 4 Hike and canoe trip on Lake Duluth

In the morning you go on a guided hike through the beautiful landscape around Lake Duluti. This area is a bird paradise and your guide is looking forward to showing you the diverse and colorful bird species that Tanzania can offer.

After the nice picnic tat lunch time  we start an approximately 2-hour canoe trip on Lake Duluti which offers you another new perspective on this wonderful piece of earth off the beaten tourist track.

Day 5 Tarangire National Park

Depart after early breakfast for Tarangire National Park. A good road leads you into the park, where the safari begins immediately.

Picnic lunch in the park. Dinner and overnight near Karate.

The Tarangire National Park is one of the most beautiful game reserves in Tanzania. An area of ​​2600 square kilometers and an average height of 1100 meters is home to some animal species that can only rarely or not at all be observed in other parks in northern Tanzania.

For example the gerenuk, the small kudu, oryx and eland and the rarest of all antelope species: the great kudu. The park also offers big cats, giraffes, buffalo, but above all: elephants, elephants, elephants (sometimes herds of over 200 animals !!!!).

  

Day 6 Bashay Primary School - Maasai Village

Visit a primary school in the morning. At midday  you will visit a Maasai village where a traditional Maasai lunch is prepared for you. You will spend the afternoon with this nomad people and receive an introduction to a culture that is completely foreign to us.

Dinner and overnight again near Karate.

Getting to know everyday school life in Tanzania up close and being infected by the happiness - this opportunity only arises once in a lifetime. On site, you will experience how African teachers organize their lessons. You can tour the school buildings and get in touch with the children and employees. This will be a very special experience especially for your own children. The school is always happy to receive gifts such as good quality pens and pencils. If you donate a soccer ball, a game can be arranged including you and your own children and the local pupils

    

Day 7 - Hadzabe

Drive to Lake Eyasi, to visit two of the oldest surviving ethnic groups in Africa: the Hadzabe and the Datoga.

Lunch at Baghayo, afternoon at leisure by the pool. Dinner and overnight again near Karate.

The Hadzabe are traditionally hunter-gatherers and one of the last ethnic groups to have used stone tools in the recent past. They traditionally look for food as far as the Serengeti. Food sources are hunting and the gathering of berries and honey. Although hunting is prohibited in the Serengeti, the Tanzanian authorities make an exception in this case and do not enforce the regulations. We continue to the Datoga, who are skilled blacksmiths and - among other things - make the arrowheads for the Hadzabe.

  

Day 8 and 9 Safari in the Serengeti

 2 days safari in the Serengeti.  Picnic lunch in the park, dinner and overnight in the Park.

This huge park (14,000 square kilometers) has the highest concentration of wild cats in the world. The Serengeti includes very different biotopes: the savannah with its wide, grass-covered plains in the south, the wooded hilly landscape in the west, the Kopjes - sometimes also called "island mountains" - in the east and the bush savannah in the north. In addition, the area is crossed by a river, which attracts a diverse fauna all year round (buffalo, giraffes, antelopes, cats) but also provides a habitat for crocodiles and hippos.

  

Day 10 Ngorongoro Crater

Safari into the famous Ngorongoro Crater. At lunchtime picnic in the crater. Dinner and overnight near Karate.

The Ngorongoro Crater on the edge of the Serengeti was created by the collapse of a volcanic cone.

The crater floor is 1700 meters above sea level and has a diameter of 20 kilometers. An almost unbelievable abundance of animals can be found all year round on an area of ​​26,400 hectares, perfectly protected by crater walls up to 600 meters high. Bernhard Grizmek and his son Michael are buried on the edge of what is certainly the most famous animal reserve in the world. In 2010 this natural amphitheater was named a World Heritage Site.

It is the land of the Big Five: buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion, and finally: rhino!

  

Day 11 Lake Manyara National Park

Drive to Manyara National Park, full day safari with picnic lunch under the acacias in the park,

Dinner and overnight again near Arusha.

Although the smallest of the parks in northern Tanzania, Manyara National Park offers a wide variety of animal species including elephants, giraffes and buffalo ... in a wonderful landscape framed by the Rift Valley and Lake Manyara with its thousands of flamingos and other birds. It especially famous for the tree lions.  

 


 Day 12 Transfer to the airport for your flight back
